Gov. Abba Kabir Hailed for Appointing Educational Enthusiasist as Higher Education Commissioner

Communities of Gwamai, Gargari and neighboring towns in Dawakin Tofa local government area have praised Kano State governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for appointing a dedicated and committed person who has a passionate interest in promoting educational sector as a Commissioner for Higher Education.

The representative of the District Head of Bebeji, Alh.Kabiru Ali and Alhaji Garba Gwamai made the commendation during an interactive session with Commissioner, Dr. Yusuf Kofarmata at Kano State Polytechnic, Gwamai Campus, during his continuation of familiarzation tour to state-owned Tertiary Institutions and agency under his Ministry.

“This is the first time we interact with top government official who share ideas on educational development, as well as issues bordering on the land owners, where the Gwamai Campus of the Polytechnic was built, who were yet to be compensated,” they confessed.

Therefore, they assured the Commissioner their continued support and cooperation to the present administration of governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to noticeable the zeal and commitmeent of the government in order to achieve the desired goals on education sector.

They also appealed to the state government to look into the possibility of paying the compensation to the people affected by Gwamai Campus project.

Responding the Commissioner of Higher Education, Dr. Yusuf Kofarmata, thanked the community for their concerned on educational development to their wards and promised to look at the suggestions and advise given at the occasion.

Turning to the project executed by TETFUND, Dr. Kofarmata expressed dissatisfaction with some of the projects executed for being substandard, especially the roofing. He directed the contractor to ensure all the projects meet the contract quality requirement as contained in the signed agreement.

At School of Environmental Studies, Gwarzo, the Commissioner called on the stakeholders to collaborate with the Ministry so as to solve the persistent problems militating against the development of the institute despite all the vital programmes the school is offering.

The interactive session was held with all stakeholders, which include village heads, divisional police officers, community associations, management of the institution, among others.

During the visit the Commissioner was accompanied by top management of the ministry, technical aides of the Commissioner, Rector of Kano State Polytechnic, Dr. Kabiru Bello Dungurawa, and directors.
