2023: 9 Kano Guber Candidates Raises Alarm Over Alleged Hiring Of Thugs

A coalition of nine Gubernatorial Candidates in Kano have raised concern, alleging that some unpatriotic politicians engaged the services of armed thugs to distrupt the electoral process in the state.

The Spokesperson of the Candidates, Mallam Ibrahim Kalil, who is also the ADC governorship candidate in Kano made the assertion at press briefing held in Kano Council of Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ).

He said there are also report of moves to provide security agencies uniform to political thugs during the March eleventh governorship election.

“In view of this development, we are calling on relevant stakeholders especially security agencies, state/National Peace Committees, Human Rights Organisations, International and Domestic Observers and media to do the needful in addressing the unfortunate situation for peace and stability to prevail.”

The candidates also appealed to INEC mobilise election materials to polling units on time for the process to kick start appropriately, stressing that there are allegations of plans to delay the process especially in Kano central.

The candidates pointed out that politics must not be taken as a do or die affair.

The candidates and their political parties include:
Malam Ibrahim Khalil ADC, Alhaji Bala Muhammad Gwagwarwa SDP, Alhaji Sadiq Aminu Wali PDP and Alhaji Salihu Tanko Yakasai PRP.

Others are, Alhaji Yakubu Uba Gaya YPP, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad APP, Hajiya Aisha Mahmud
NRM, Hajiya Furera Ahmad Booth Party and
Malam Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada, ADC

Mallam Ibrahim Kalil added that the statement of the briefing copied to, DIG Supervising Northwest, AIG Election Zone 1, CP Kano Command, CP Election, State Director, DSS, State Commandant, NSCDC, REC INEC, Kano.
