Ahead of the 2023 general election, Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has organized a town hall meeting/debates with candidates vying for state assembly in Jama’are local Area of Bauchi State.

The event, which took place yesterday at Wabi Conference hall, Jama’are, was conducted in an open debate and was witnessed by the Media, NGOs, civil society groups, students unions, political leaders, and supporters of the contesting parties.

In his address, the Executive Director Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), Engr. Y. Z Ya’u, described the debate as an essential landmark in the constituency’s democratic journey, saying it would deepen democracy and the growing maturity of governance and politics in Jama’are Local Government Area.

He said the debate has allowed the candidates to sell their vision and plans to the constituency. It has also allowed the electorate to assess the candidates and choose who will represent their interests at the state legislative chambers, Bauchi, come May 2023.

“The event is aimed at providing a suitable platform that’ll bring together stakeholders and candidates for a strategic discussion and presentation of eye-catching leadership problems bedeviling the Jama’re town.

Earlier, Dr. Musa Dahiru of Jama’are Concern Citizens Forum said Jama’are local government citizens must think deeply and vote one who is best suited for leadership positions at all levels, irrespective of his political inclinations so that the local government and Bauchi state in general would have strong leadership that could deliver.

According to him, the political culture of leaders being confronted with their promises should be promoted for the development of any community.

Dr. Jama’are also appealed to all political parties and their supporters to conduct themselves in an orderly manner, eschew thuggery and malpractices.

It was a battle of ideas, at the town hall meeting, where three of Jama’are local government state assembly candidates Hon. Mubarak Haruna Ibrahim of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Hon. Aminu Dahiru of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and Hon. Adamu Muhammad of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) took on four critical issues of Agriculture, Health, Education and Youth and Women Development.
