Gov Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has expressed utmost shock at the news of the sad killing of some youths of Buni Gari by gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents.
This is contained in a statement by Buni’s Director-General Press and Media Affairs Alhaji Mamman Mohammed in Damaturu on Saturday.
Our correspondent reports that the police had earlier confirmed that nine people died in the attack.
The governor said the victims were reportedly killed in an ambush in the bush when they went in search of their missing brother, on the fringes of the Yobe / Borno state border.
He described as sad and most unfortunate the unprovoked killing of innocent souls for no just cause.
” It is barbaric to ambush innocent persons and kill them without any provocation and for no reason.
“It is unexplainable that in this holy month of Ramadan, when people are seeking forgiveness and mercy from Allah their creator, others are killing fellow human beings for no justifiable cause.
“It is heart breaking that we have this gruesome killings after a long relative peace enjoyed across the state but this will not weaken us.
“ Government will collaborate with the security agencies to ensure that there is no space for these bad eggs in the state,” Buni said.
The governor prayed to Allah to forgive their shortcomings, saying “they died as Martyrs because they were innocent and killed while fasting; we pray Allah admits them into paradise,” he said.
Governor Buni charged security operatives to comb the area and flush out the enemies, and urged the people to report suspicious movements in their communities.
In a similar development, Buni has condoled with the family and Fika Emirate Council over the death of Alhaji Baba Abare, the Dallatun Fika and former Chairman, Fika local Government council.
Buni described the death of Abare who recently died after a brief illness, as a sad loss to his family, Fika Emirate and Yobe state.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatur Firdaus.
