A group of northern youths, the Voice of Northern Youths Patriots (VNYP), has advised President Ahmed Bola Tinubu not to appoint former governors (in the North-west region), with alleged cases of corruption, as ministers.

A leader of the group, Alhaji Mustapha Mai Royal, made the appeal on Monday while addressing news reporters in Kano.

The group urged President Tinubu not to renege on the promise he earlier made to give the country the best leadership it deserves by appointing the best hands to manage the nation’s resources for optimal performances.

They also warned that they would not want a situation where the North will in future disregard whatever the president will tell them, after eating his words by making the wrong appointments.

Mustapha specifically mentioned names of the three former State governors as Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, Bello Matawalle of Zamafara State, and Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, who he said are “under investigation for alleged corruption cases to the tune of billions of Naira.”

“We are hereby calling on His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to appoint some former governors from the North-west region as ministers because of various cases of corruption against them.“Mr President, you have stated that you would run an all-inclusive government for the unification and betterment of the country.

“These former governors from the North-west have not displayed such qualities as to deserve being appointed in your government.

“We have seen the poor performance of some of the these governors in the fight against insecurity in their States and the roles they have played.

“Some of them have cases of corruption with EFCC, and their State anti- corruption agency. Others have corruption cases in and out of the country, even right from the military era.
“These weaknesses are enough for Mr President to consider and not appoint them into his cabinet,” he said
