Empowerment: 500 Women Benefits from Groundnuts, cash Grants in Kebbi

Wife of Kebbi state governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasir Idris have empowered 500 women with big bags of groundnut and cash Grants in Arewa local government of Kebbi state.

Her Excellency, Hajiya Zainab Nasir Idris, said Arewa local government was the first to enjoy the empowerment programme which would be extended to all the 21 LGAS of the state to assist women engage in trade and commerce for self reliance.

She stated this while distributing empowerment materials and cash Grants to 500 women beneficiaries in Arewa local government of the state, which took place at local government council premises.

At the distribution exercise, each of the 500 women beneficiaries received two big bags of groundnuts for groundnut cake, (Kuli-Kuli) and ten thousand Naira cash(N 10,000). She further stated that the main reason for the empowerment is to enable the beneficiaries to send their children and wards school, emphasising that education was undisputable, the foundation of life and development in the society.

However, appealing to traditional rulers in the state to provide the desired support and cooperation to the government to develop the education sector with quality and innovation.

” the attainment of educational development will be a mirage without the input of traditional rulers especially district heads”. She aver.

The member, kebbi State House of Assembly, Arewa Constituency, Hon. Nura Kangiwa thanked the wife of the governor for the gesture, assuring that the Assembly would give the m necessary cooperation to the governor Nasir Idris administration to achieve its development goals.

The Mai- Arewa Kangiwa, Alhaji Yusuf Sulieman bestowed the traditional tittle of ” Madugar Arewa, Shugabar Matar Arewa”, on the wife of the governor when she visited him in his palace.

One of the beneficiary, Hafsat Yusuf show her appreciation to the wife of the governor for empowering them with cash Grants and bags of groundnut. Adding that it will enhance and booster their trade of groundnut cake (Kuli-Kuli) in their Communities. However assured governor’s wife that ” we are going to utilizes the support judiciously”. She promised.
