Foreign Scholarship: Kano Govt “ll Give Equal Treatment to HND, BSC Certificate Holders

Kano State Government says it will give equal opportunity to holders of Higher National Diploma certificates same with BSc graduands in it’s scholarship programme to sponsor state indigenes to further their studies either at home or overseas.

The state Commissioner for Higher Education Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofarmata made this known during an interactive session with management, staff, union leaders and other stakeholders of Kano State Polytechnic in a continuation of familiarization visit to state-owned tertiary institutions.

Dr. Kofarmata said the present administration of Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf is committed to sponsor BSc graduates that excelled by getting a first class, or distinction grade in the case of HND would be sponsored.

“We all know the value and role of education in the development and advancement of any serious nation,” he emphasized.

Turning to the importance of the visit, the Commissioner said it served as avenue to interact with stakeholders so as to have first-hand information regarding the state affairs of all our Institutions and also avail the leadership of the ministry with a view to join hands together for the progress of the Institutions.

He then tasked the management of KSP to redouble their efforts by creating more avenues that would supplement governmentis effort to address unemployment among the teeming youth through entreprenureship program as well as enhancing revenue generation in the state.

Dr. Yusuf also urged the general public to imbibe the culture of collective responsibility in addressing problems and challenges.

Therefore, the Commissioner assured Governor Yusuf’s administration commitmeent to confront the nagging problems militating against the aspirations for a prosperous education sector in the state.

However, he expressed his admiration and cherished the achievements of KSP in terms of the projects executed by TETFUND, commending the agency for the kind gesture.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Rector of Kano State Polytechnic, Assoc. Prof. Bello Dungurawa thanked the Commissioner for the visit, which he said will improve the cordial relationship between the Kano state Ministry for Higher Education and its tertiary institutions.

He also highlighted some of the achievements recorded by the institute and challenges, appealing for government intervention.

He assured their support to present administration to achieve it’s aims and desires in moving the education sector forward in the state.

The District head of Gwale Danlawan of Kano, Alhaji Yahaya Inuwa Abbas and union leaders were among the speakers of the occasion.

Later on, the Hon. Commissioner and his entorage visited School of Technology, School of Management Studies , School of General Studies and School of Rural and Technology, Rano.
