Gov Bagudu seeks forgiveness from Kebbi people, says he forgives whoever wronged him

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has asked people and politicians in the state to forgive him saying he has already forgiven those who wronged him.

Bagudu made the plea while addressing attendees of the 7th Kebbi Women’s Ramadan Lecture orgainsed by his wife, Dr Zainab Shinkafii Bagudu on Wednesday at the presidential lodge in Birnin Kebbi.

He said he has few weeks to leave office as Governor of Kebbi State hence there was need for him to seek forgiveness from people of the state just as Dr. Jabir MaiHula Sokoto, in his preaching talked about the importance of forgiveness in Islam.

The Governor said “I can say this is the last time I would be attending this Ramadan Lecture as a serving governor because my tenure would come to an end by May 29 this year.

“I can only be invited to attend the lecture as ex-governor. Godwilling. Iam bidding you farewell and wish you all the best in life.

“For those we have offended, already our Shiekh Dr. Jabir Mai-Hula Sokoto has preached about the important of forgiveness, from my part, I have forgiven you all.

He added that asking for forgiveness or forgiven people does not mean cowardice or down fall to anyone.

Bagudu stated that he spent two terms as Governor of Kebbi State as such he has every reason to thank Almighty God for His blessings. “For this long period, there must be some places where I did right and where I did wrong. For whatever wrong I did, I seek for forgiveness, he begged.

Earlier In her address, the Governor’s wife Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu also asked for forgiveness. She said she had forgiven those who wronged her.

She prayed for the success of the incoming administration and enjoined wives of the governor -elect to continue from where she stopped on programs that elevates women needs in the state.

Topics of this year’s Ramadan lecture is: Forgiveness in Islam an essential virtue for every Muslim, Sustaining the spirit of Ramadan and the best EId el Fitr.
Invited speakers are: Dr. Ismail Mufti Menk, Dr. Jabir Sani Mai-Hula, Malama Zainab Jafar Muhmud Adam and Malama Juwairiya Usman Sulaiman among other.
