Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has inaugurated the construction of 25-kilometer Gashua-Masaba road in Bursari Local Government Area at the cost of N4.4 billion.
Speaking at the inauguration in Gashua, Buni noted that the road, if completed, would open up the area for commercial activities.
“This project is awarded at N4.5 billion with a completion period of nine months.
“I wish to call on the contractors to strictly abide by the contractual terms signed with the state government”, he said.
The governor added that the project was in line with his administration’s commitment to provide good road network across the state.
Meanwhile, Buni also flagged-off the the construction of four-kilometer Karasuwa-Galu road at the cost of N1.4 billion.
He noted that for 40 years, communities around the project site had been yearning for the road which would help in transporting their farm produce to the market.
The governor listed crops cultivated in commercial quantity in the area to include sesame, millet, guinea corn, beans melon seeds.
Buni called on the contractor, Greyland Multiple Investment Ltd. to abide by contractual specification and complete the job within the agree timeframe.
He called on people of the state to intensify prayers for more rainfall and seek Allah’s protection against flood and other calamities.
