The Minister of Justice and Attorney- General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has lauded the peaceful and orderly manner of the conduct of the gubernatorial and state assembly exercise by Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kebbi.
Malami made this known while addressing journalists at Shiryar Fada, Garkar Na-Gambo, Poling unit of Nassarawa 1 Ward in Birnin-Kebbi as he cast his vote on Saturday.
Malami expressed satisfaction over the conduct of the election, saying the general atmosphere was very peaceful and people had organised themselves in a general atmosphere in casting their votes in an orderly manner.
“People have accordingly accepted the democratic norms and principles of electing their leadership.
“I am impressed by the organisation put in place by INEC and as well impressed by the general atmosphere imbibed by the people in casting their votes in an orderly and peaceful manner,” he said.
Malami also commended the improvement in the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS) application, saying if what was obtained in his polling unit was what obtained across the federation, was a great source of happiness and joy.
“In view of what has been put in place, in terms of the process of the BIVAS, it will certainly let the votes of the people count.
“It has given a hope to the process and at the end of the day, we will have what will translate to popular votes,” the minister said.
