Gumel Communities decries unhygienic environment in hospital

The members of Gumel town under the platform of Guble Media Forum decried unhygienic environment in Gumel general hospital area of Jigawa state.
The chairman of the forum comrade Salim Ibrahim who lead hundreds communities members complained that, their hospital in Gumel may turn to centre of infectious diseases instead of healthcare centre due unhygienic atmosphere in the hospital.
He explained that hospital environment particularly the toilets is so dirty and even beds and mattress are not clean despite government’s effort of releasing monthly funds to the hospital.
Comrade Salim alleged that, the failure was caused as a result of unusual payment of casual workers who are responsible for cleaning the hospital environment.
The forum then appeal to relevant authorities to intervene and save the lives of Gumel people particularly those admitted in the hospital.
When contacted on this matter, the Chief Medical Director Gumel general hospital Dr Nura Basirka said, he left the hospital on Friday and the environment was very clean.
“I don’t know what really happened I left the hospital on Friday evening and the environment is very clean, but it was later when my attention was called in the same issue.
” As I’m talking to you, we de please deployed all the cleaners workers and now everything is over, we also advised those that have patients in the hospital to limited their number into one or two persons as part of measures to avoid unhygienic environment in the hospital.
“Also as part of measures we invited plumbers to rectify all problems in the toilets” he said.
While speaking on unsual payment of casual workers in the hospital, he dispelled the allegations adding that ” we are up-to-date in payment of our casual workers”.
