Less than 48 hours to the 2023 gubernatorial election in Kano, emerging events are strongly projecting a landslide victory for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) candidate, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, with the latest being an unpredictable endorsement by a revered Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Tijjani Hassan Gawuna, whose recommendations are quite reliable and widely accepted by religious, political and social groups in Kano.
Shiekh Tijjani, who is a maternal uncle to the APC gubernatorial candidate, Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, declared his support for the NNPP’s candidates on Thursday during a courtesy call on the Party’s National Leader and Presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso at his Miller Road house in Kano.
A statement signed by the Chief Spokesperson of the NNPP Campaign Council, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said Sheikh Tijjani, who arrived with his delegation, told Sen. Kwankwaso that his open support for the NNPP’s candidates in the elections come Saturday, represents an endorsement for prosperity in terms of infrastructural development, scholarship and free quality education for children of masses, economic revival and accountability that Engr. Abba promised to deliver to Kano people as enumerated in his witty Blueprint.
He said beyond usual pedestrian family sentiments by which political leaders emerged in the polls, the choices in the 2023 elections are well informed as Kano State is urgently in need of transformation rulers who are courageous and ingenious to correct the present sufferings of the populace as result of misrule by current administration led by Governor Ganduje hence, his choice of Abba Gida-Gida and other NNPP’s candidates over Nasir Gawuna whose mother is of the same father and the same mother with him.
While assuring Sen. Kwankwaso of his commitment to mobilize his followers to vote on Saturday for Engr. Abba, Sheikh Tijjani Gawuna expressed confidence that victory for the NNPP’s candidates in the Saturday polls will be a rebirth of people-centred government in Kano for which Kwankwasiyya vision is popularly acknowledged by the Kano people.
In his response, Sen. Kwankwaso thanked the revered Islamic scholar for his informed choice to vote Engr. Abba to be the next governor of Kano State, assuring him and Kano people of the NNPP’s readiness to restore the economic glories and social prides lost to the incompetent current administration, if its candidates are elected as the Governor and State House of Assembly members in the elections holding Saturday.
