Kebbi Guber Tribunal: Hearing Begins, PDP Presents 5 Witnesses

The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal Sitting in Birnin Kebbi, the State capital have today Monday Being the 10th of July 2023 Begins Hearing of Petitioners witnesses and which Bande Aminu as Gubernatorial Candidate and peoples Democratic party (PDP) as petitioners before the Tribunal tendered Witnesses from PW1 to PW 5 of today’s proceedings in a petition filed with suit No: EPT/KB/GOV/1/2023 that Challenging the victory of Dr. Nasir Idris, his deputy Abubakar Umar Tafida and INEC for conducting election of Kebbi State Governorship and declaring results on 18th March and 15 April 2023.

The PW1 to PW 5 was cross examined by 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Respondants Counsels based on the Exhibits and their Statement’s on Oaths that is before the Said Tribunal. Thereafter the Led Counsel to Petitioners Ibrahim K. Bawa SAN informed the Tribunal as for today’s proceedings they can only present five witnesses out of Eight listed earlier on their schedule of witnesses filed 24hours before the Commencement of proceedings.

He however, apply for an adjournment to the next day for Continuation of Hearing. The Tribunal Chairman Honourable Justice OFem IKpi OFem having listen to the Submission of the Petitioners Led Counsel Ibrahim K. Bawa SAN, adjourned to Tuesday the 11th day of July 2023 for Continuation, but sounded a warning that the remaining 3 witnesses most before the Tribunal at exactly 10am to start with failure to comply with the Tribunal directed petitioners Counsel Should consider that their witnesses have abandoned their evidence and Tribunal can’t revisit them can only expunge their Statement’s on Oaths that’s before Tribunal.
