To obey a court order mandating him to set up a caretaker leadership the Oba Yoruba Kano, Alhaji Murtala Alimi Otisese, has appointed a caretaker committee to manage the Executive Council of Yoruba Community in Kano, amidst a leadership dispute.
The new committee was inaugurated in compliance with a court order issued by the Kano State High Court Number 5, which empowered them to exercise all powers within the Constitution of Yoruba Community in Kano for a period of six (6) months or pending the hearing and determination of the suit.
The new chairman of the committee, Sheikh Abduljaleel Shoga, revealed that the Oba Yoruba Kano mandated the committee to reconcile any misunderstandings among Yoruba families in Kano, review the community’s constitution, build a new Yoruba edifice to house the Palace of Oba Yoruba Kano, and conduct an all-inclusive election of Yoruba Community Executive Council Members.
Sheikh Shoga called on all relevant institutions to cooperate with the new committee to ensure the success of their tasks.
The committee members include Alhaji Kazeem Afolabi, Secretary, Alhaji Abdulrazak Lawal, Spokesman, Mr Segun Adegbegi, Prince Zakariya’u Abdurrashid, Mr Olajide Johnson Ogunleye, Alhaji Bashir Adeleye, Mr. Timothy Kayode, and Pastor Kehinde Samsom Oladejo.
The committee unlocked the Yoruba Community House (Secretariat), which was earlier sealed by the Court, and took inventory of the facilities and equipment found inside.
