Police in Kano arrests 161 Suspects over electoral offenses

The Kano State Police Command says it has arrested 161 thugs for various electoral offenses during the March 18 Gubernatorial/State House of Assembly elections in Kano.
The Commissioner of Police in charge of the election, CP Mohammad Gumel, disclosed this to journalists while updating them on the security situation in the state.
During the election, the state was divided into sectors, and the heads of security agencies in the state, along with the Command’s Operational Commanders, carried out round-the-clock visibility supervision and confidence-building patrols.
”As a result, 161 suspects were apprehended for offenses such as vote buying, destruction of election materials, and possession of offensive weapons and drugs”
Among the suspects arrested was Hon. Isyaku Ali Danja, a member of the Kano State House of Assembly representing Gezawa Constituency, for leading thugs who attempted to attack the Gezawa Local Government Area INEC Collation Centre and the Police Divisional Headquarters of Gezawa LGA.
The collation of the election results is currently ongoing, and the Command, in conjunction with other security agencies in the state, has intensified confidence-building patrols and Show of Force to surmount any emerging threats.
The people of Kano State are assured of their security and safety, and are urged to refrain from spreading fake news, hate speeches, and engaging in reckless celebrations that may disrupt the peace in the state
