Stakeholders strategizes to tackle inadequate funds for SP in Jigawa

The team of stakeholders from various ministries and agencies with support from Foreign Commonwealth Development Office FCDO, have developed strategies on how to increase funds for financing social protection programs in the state.

The strategies was developed during the two days workshop on Fiscal Space Analysis findings and financial dissemination, organised by ACF through Expanding Social Protection for Inclusive Development (ESPID) in collaboration with State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, held in Kano.

Speaking during the workshop, the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Garin-Gabas said, the ensuring Social Protection for all, is part of the present administration’s agenda for the wellbeing of the citizens.

According to him, already Governor Umar Namadi has directed for the review of social protection policies in the state for expansion to cover more orphans, old age, women, children among many others.

The PPS who assured more collaboration with party, commended ESPID for supporting Jigawa state government to achieve better development through fighting poverty out of the state.

While making his remarks, the Permernent secretary Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Aminu Adamu Ringing who represented the commissioner from the ministry, said Jigawa government considered Social protection very important in delivering services to the citizens.

He said, the state government is determined on SP programs, as the state already have a developed SP policies and law, what remain is strategies for identifying the resources for implementation, adding that, Jigawa have over seventeen various interventions which are SP in nature.

Speaking as part of major SP stakeholders, the executive secretary Jigawa State Contributory Health Management Agency (JICHMA), Pharm. Hamza Maigari Kakudi promised to do all his best to address the challenges bedeviling the Agency, adding that the present administration will not accept any injustice in the Agency.

Also making her remarks, the ESPID project manager, Stella Esedunme said after conducting a Fiscal Space Analysis and designed a financial strategies, ESPID organised the workshop to disseminate and share the findings with relevant stakeholders in the state for adoption.
