Tangalashi Triumphs: Hausa Sensation Honored by Al-Qalam University for Pioneering Achievements in Sports Commentary”

Renowned football commentator and Tambari TV’s Isma’eel Abba Tangalashi has recently been bestowed with a prestigious award by Al-Qalam University Katsina, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the world of sports. Affectionately known as TangaSports by his dedicated fan base, he etched his name in history as the inaugural Hausa language football commentator on Africa’s largest sports channel, Supersport TV.

Tangalashi achieved another milestone by becoming the first Hausa man to provide live FIFA World Cup commentary on television during the opening ceremony of the Qatar 2022 World Cup clash between host country Qatar and Ecuador. His linguistic prowess in the Hausa language, coupled with his adept commentary skills, has positioned him as an exemplar in sports commentary, news reporting, and documentary production.

Acknowledging his excellence in the field, Tangalashi clinched the title of Best Radio Sports Caster at the 2019 Arewa Sports Personality Award night held at Bristol Palace Hotel. This victory saw him triumph over competitors from Kwara and Gombe states, solidifying his status as a distinguished figure in sports broadcasting.

Among his illustrious achievements, Tangalashi boasts coverage of two FIFA World Cups as a commentator, along with four AFCONS. Currently, he graces the audience as one of the commentators for the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League season, showcasing his enduring commitment to delivering top-tier sports commentary.

Regarded as the most talented Northern sports journalist, Tangalashi stands out for his ability to seamlessly transition between TV, radio, and the written word, consistently delivering performances at a remarkable 100%. His multifaceted talents have undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the sports journalism landscape.

In a recent development, he ascended to the position of station manager at Tamsuguri Communications Services Ltd. In his new role, he spearheaded the establishment of the groundbreaking Hausa language sports channel, ‘Wasannin TCTV,’ also referred to as WTCTV. Simultaneously, he holds the position of the head of the sports desk at Tambari TV, the sister station to WTCTV.

Tangasports is renowned for his passion for grassroots sports, extensively covering numerous editions of the National Youth Games and National Sports Festival. Currently in his 14th season, he continues to provide dedicated coverage of the Nigeria Premier Football League (formerly NPL, now NPFL), showcasing his unwavering commitment to promoting and spotlighting local sports talent.
