The Nation’s correspondent, Duku, emerges Yobe SWAN Chairman

Mr Joel Duku, the Nation’s correspondent in Yobe State has been elected as the new Chairman of the Sports Writers Association (SWAN) in the state.

Duku, a seasoned journalists and the immediate past secretary of the association was elected unopposed.

In his inaugural speach shortly after the election, the Chairman expressed his gratitude to members of the association for their overwhelming support and trust in his leadership.

“ I am deeply humbled by the mandate you have given me to serve as the Chairman of SWAN Yobe State Chapter.

“ I am committed to working tirelessly with our dynamic team to enhance the standard of sports journalism in our state and foster a spirit of unity and collaboration among our esteemed members,” he said.

Expressing his vision for the association, Duku emphasized on the importance of promoting professional development and providing a conducive environment for sports journalists to excel in their careers.

The Chairman also promised to partner sports organizations, athletes, and other relevant stakeholders to enhance general reportage of sports in the state.

“ As the new leadership takes the reins of SWAN Yobe State Chapter, they look forward to engaging with sports enthusiasts, stakeholders, and the public to foster a deeper appreciation and love for sports through compelling and insightful journalism,” he said.

Also elected were Yusuf Biriri, Vice Chairman, YBC, Musa Maina Koja, General Secretary, YTV, Mustapha Yusuf, Assistant General Secretary, NTA, Penina Jeji, Treasurer, YBC, and Yunusa Suleiman, Financial Secretary, NTA.

Others were Abubakar Ali ,Social/Welfare Officer, YBC, while Abubakar Fada and Micheal Oshoma of TVC will each serve as ex-officio.
