World Cancer Day: Nigerian Cancer Society Urges Kano Govt To Subsidize Care Service.

Nigerian cancer society, Kano state chapter has urged the state government to introduce subsidized cancer care services in all its public hospitals in order to ease burden on patients.

The society at a press conference to mark 2025 world Cancer day by its chairman,Salisu Yusuf, also advised the government to fully integrate cancer screening , diagnosis, treatment and palliative care into its healthcare contributory scheme as many patients from low income families cannot afford the high cost of care.

Salisu Yusuf further urged the government to include cancer patients and survivors into the recently unveiled Abba Care Scheme for 300,00O Vulnerable people to ease their suffering.

He said, cancer remains a major health crisis that demands immediate sustain action as many patients struggle to afford the cost of screening, diagnosis, and treatment for the disease.

The chairman of the Nigerian cancer society also called on Kano state government to key into the cancer trust fund of the NGOs to ensure consistent support for cancer care and patients welfare, commending the effort of the state government in improving the healthcare sector.

He then called on philanthropists, corporate organizations, private health institutions and NGOs to actively support cancer care initiatives in Kano.

He Reiterated commitment to champion advocacy for policy changes prioritize cancer patients in Kano, through awareness and early detection through community outreach.
