Yellow fever : NPHCDA set to vaccinates over 7.4 million people in Jigawa

No fewer than 7,472,505 people of Jigawa state are expected to receive Yellow fever vaccines during the 2023 preventive mass vaccination campaign (PMVC).
This was announced by the Jigawa state Immunisation Officer Alhaji Hassan Shuaibu Kwalam while briefing news men on their readiness to commence the exercise.
He explained that, the exercise will be conducted by the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHDA), with support from Jigawa state government.

According to him, the exercise which was planned for ten days will cover 27 local government areas across the state.
Kwalam who urged media to support the move by the sensitizing the general public, said over six million dosage of Yellow fever vaccines already received and stored in the state medical store Dutse.
While speaking on target population, Kwalam said, the target age are people between nine months to 44 years old.
“We target 7,472,505 population with age ranging from nine months to 44 years old across 27 local government areas in Jigawa”, he said.
The state Immunization officer added that, about 1,728 teams received training, while three teams will work at each 287 political wards in the state.
He then, urged the people in the state particularly the major stakeholders like traditional religious leaders and media to collaborate with teams for the successful vaccination exercise.
