Alhaji Abdullahi Mohammed Talio, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate in the 2023 governorship election in Yobe, has withdrawn from the race and pledged his support for Gov Mai Mala Buni of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Announcing the withdrawal in Damaturu, Talio said he was motivated by the achievements recorded by the Buni administration in the last four years.

“I want to avoid a situation of splitting votes, and to give our support to Governor Buni for a well-deserved second term in office,” Talio stated this when he visited the governor.

Similarly, a group of 72 trade unions and associations in the state have also declared their support to Buni.

Their Chairman, Alhaji Umaru Barau, noted that various empowerment programmes of the Buni-led administration had provided artisans in the state with sustainable means of livelihood.

“The interventions by the state government in providing commercial vehicles on loan at subsidised rates, sewing and knitting machines, among many others, have empowered tradesmen with means of livelihood.

“We will support you, vote you back for a second term to continue doing the good work,” he assured.

Highlights of the occasion included the presentation of award of excellence to Buni.
