Yobe South rerun : Buni congratulates APC’s Bomoi

Gov Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has congratulated Sen. Ibrahim Mohammed Bomoi for emerging victorious at the Yobe South Senatorial District supplementary election conducted on Saturday.

Our correspondent reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, Dr Abatcha Melemi, had earlier declared Bomoi as the winner of the election.
Melemi said Bomoi scored 69,596 votes to defeat his closest rival and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr Halilu Mazagane, who polled 68,885 in the election.
According to the statement, “ Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni has congratulated the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Yobe South Senator, Ibrahim Mohammed Bomoi, on his success and return as Senator-elect of the Zone ‘B’ Senatorial election.
“ The Governor issued the congratulatory message today after the formal declaration of Senator Bomoi by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“ Buni described the victory of the party as an additional value to the incoming APC national government.
“I am optimistic the Senator would always lend his support to legislation on policies and programmes of the Federal government.
“We are also optimistic the experienced law maker would bring his experience to bear and continue to work towards improving the lives of his constituents,” Buni said.
He urged the people of Zone B to continue supporting the law maker for more dividends of democracy.
Our correspondent recalls that INEC had declared the Feb 25 election inconclusive following the cancellation of the Polling Unit 003 results in Manawaci in Fika Local Government Area leading to Saturday’s rerun.
