YUMSUK Varsity Would Be Research Dev. Center – Visitor

Considering the facts of acadamic excellence and examplary leadership of Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, the varsity would soon be among the development center of research.

The observation was made by the Visitor of the University, the State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf when he paid a familiarzation visit to the University, on Friday.

The governor, represented by Hon. Commissioner for higher education, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofarmata, further said with track record of achievements, courageous and committed staff, both acadamic and non-acadamic, and above all the good governance by the management steering the University knowaday are they verometer that can determined the future of the institution, he explained.

He added that “We wish the YUMSUK University have recieved utmost guidance and higher level of consideration by defunct government, the story is beyond measurable,” he emphasized.

The visitor implored the principles officers, acadamic and non-acadamic Union’s to continue work as a team towards transforming the institution to the greater heights, pledged to seek for appointment with all relevant agencies starting projects at the environment to be completed as soon as possible.

And reiterated the present State government willingness to give a facelift to the University with a view to reach a standard of the global best practice.

Therefore, the Visitor, spoke at length on the significance for creation the university, “symbolically its symbolizes the northwestern region though the name of the university before was changed, miraculously if you look at the university logo geographical map of the Northwest States.

“The aims and objectives of the university as envisaged by Jagora Sen. Engr. Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso the founder of the university was for the university to serve, unify, revive, and transform the region educationally. This was conceived right before the emergence and deterioration of security issues that lowered the social and economic activities of the region,” the Commissioner told.

It is worth noting that the past government clutter will be hard to forget. Their selfish quest for land encroachment into the boundary of the university, we are all aware that
even the changing of the name of the university is ill political rivalry at the expense of the greater region goal, he maintained.

In his welcome address, the Vice Chancillor of YUMSUK, Prof. Mukhtari Atiku Kurawa thanked the Visitor and described the visit would go along way towards having a first-hand knowledge about the progress and problems of the university.

He said being the new Commissioner as “son of the soil” definitely they have courage and confidence that government would look in to their unsolved mysteries for possible solutions.

The university’s unionists and other stakeholders requested the government to return the facility at Kwanar Dawaki, componsetion of facility at D/Tofa to the varsity. Others are increasing Monthly overheard, as well as payment of lingering allowance to their members.
