πano Poly Strengthens Security With Provision Of New Motorcycles, Modern Security Gadgets
In a significant move to strengthen the security of lives and property across its campuses, the Management of Kano State Polytechnic, under the visionary leadership of the Rector, Dr. Abubakar Umar Farouk, FCA, has provided eight newly branded motorcycles and modern security gadgets to the Institution’s security personnel.
The intervention was facilitated through the 2026 TETFund Special Intervention under the Security Master Plan for Nigerian Tertiary Institutions (SEMPOTI), an initiative of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) aimed at strengthening security infrastructure in higher institutions across the country.
Speaking during the official handover of the motorcycles to Directors of the seven unit schools and the Central Administration, the Deputy Rector (Administration), Dr. Maryam Kabir, who represented the Rector, emphasized the Management’s resolve to enhance security across the Polytechnic.
She explained that the motorcycles are strictly designated for security operations and should remain under the custody and supervision of the Chief Security Officers of the respective schools. She urged the officers to ensure the effective and responsible utilization of the motorcycles and other security equipment to improve surveillance, rapid response, and the overall safety of the Institution.
Dr. Maryam also prayed for the continued growth and progress of Kano State Polytechnic, reaffirming the Management’s commitment to providing sustained support for the security units in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Earlier in his remarks, the Registrar, Mukhtar Ibrahim Bello (Falakin Kano), expressed the Management’s profound appreciation to TETFund for its timely intervention in strengthening the Institution’s security.
He disclosed that the 2026 security intervention also includes specialized training for security personnel, the installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at strategic locations across all unit schools, the provision of new uniforms and modern security gadgets, as well as the supply of the eight branded motorcycles.
The Registrar charged the security personnel to make judicious use of the facilities provided, stressing that their proper deployment would significantly enhance the safety and security of the Polytechnic community.
