NIM Kano Chapter Holds Quarterly General Meeting, Advocates Effective Conflict Management for Organizational Productivity
The Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) (NIM), Kano Chapter, on Saturday held its Quarterly General Meeting at the Management Centre, Club Road, Kano, bringing together distinguished professionals, academics, bureaucrats and practitioners from both the public and private sectors to deliberate on issues affecting professional management and organizational development.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the NIM Kano Chapter, Alhaji Ado Rabo Shuaibu, FNIM, welcomed newly inducted members and urged them to actively participate in the institute’s programmes and activities. He described the quarterly meeting as an important avenue for the executive committee to update members on the chapter’s achievements, ongoing programmes, challenges and developments from both the Northwest Zone and the national headquarters.
Shuaibu highlighted some of the chapter’s recent achievements, including a condolence visit to the family of the late Prof. Kabiru Isa Dandago, FNIM, a membership drive through a radio programme on Ammasco Radio, Management Career Day talks at Rumfa College, Kano, and the successful conduct of the quarterly general meeting.
He acknowledged that some activities outlined in the chapter’s annual calendar had yet to be accomplished but assured members that efforts were ongoing to realise them. He therefore appealed to fellows and members to support the leadership by attending general meetings, lectures, zonal summits and the Annual National Management Conference, as well as paying their annual subscriptions at both the national and chapter levels.
The chairman noted that the meeting’s theme, “Conflict Management and Resolution for Organizational Productivity,” was timely, considering the impact of workplace conflicts on institutional performance. He encouraged participants to pay close attention to the presentation and contribute constructively during the interactive session.
The lead paper was presented by the Chapter Secretary, Comrade Kabir Nasir Isah, who examined practical strategies for preventing, managing and resolving conflicts in organizations. He stressed that properly managed conflict can stimulate innovation, improve efficiency and ultimately enhance organizational productivity.
Also speaking, the Northwest Zonal Chairman of the institute, Prof. Abubakar S. Garba, encouraged members to register for the forthcoming Northwest Zonal Summit scheduled for August 2026 in Zaria and the Annual National Management Conference slated for September 2026 in Lagos. He reminded members that prompt payment of subscriptions qualifies them to vote and contest during the institute’s council elections while also strengthening the activities of the institute.
In his remarks, the immediate past Chairman of NIM Kano Chapter, Dr. Aminu Bello Muhammad, FNIM, commended the paper presenter for addressing issues relevant to both organizational management and personal development. He shared personal experiences on how membership of the institute had positively influenced his professional growth and career progression.
The Centre Manager, Mr. Olusola Adetunla, informed members that the chapter would continue to organise professional training programmes, seminars and membership campaigns. He disclosed that more than 100 new members had been inducted into the chapter between November last year and July 2026.
The meeting resolved that professional members should intensify continuous professional development by upgrading their membership status, while the chapter would deepen advocacy for the adoption of professional management standards across ministries, departments, agencies and private organisations in Kano State. It also resolved to prioritise membership drives and management career talks in the coming year.
The meeting concluded with interactive discussions, commendations and a networking session, with participants reaffirming their commitment to upholding the institute’s core values of Excellence, Integrity and Professionalism.
The Chairman expressed appreciation to all participants, particularly the newly inducted members, for contributing to the success of the quarterly meeting.
